Colorado saw a massive storm rip through dropping several feet of snow in a week. the resorts were struggling to open steep terrain and the back country danger was through the roof. What to do.... how about build some jibs on an old mining building on Red Mountain Pass. Sounds like a plan.

Looking like winter... maybe
I have spent the past two weeks boot packing at Aspen Highlands to earn a pass for the winter. Eight days down so far and seven more to go until i have earned my premier pass to ASSpen. that's right, i am getting paid with a $1768 pass(retard price ASSpen, you better think about lowering your price if you want to stay in business) for walking around in the mountains. from 8am until around 3pm we hiking all around the 900 acre highlands bowl, smashing snow to the ground. YOUR WELCOME! with our work, it allows for a safer experience for the rest of the human race that comes to ski/ride at highlands. But for the few short days while visiting the family in Montrose i had to get my snow stomping fix so i am headed over to Silverton Mountain (where the real mountains are... in the San Juans) to boot pack there and earn a day pass for each day of boot packing. Fuck Jenny Craig! Give me 12,000 feet, 45 degree slopes, rocks, trees and two feet of snow, that is my diet plan! plus i get to eat ALL day long. Look out ya'll cause come the first powder day i'm going to be sprinting up the ridge to get first tracks in the G-zones!!!

Rachel and myself did a short loop here in Glenwood Springs this morning on our Runes. I must say that a xc shox would definitely make the uphill nicer.... oh but how fast you can go down! Myself i took the fastest section full steam. Screaming like a banshee i felt i hit my fastest speed yet on the tight canoed section of trail (pervious was 28mph) I ended up going off the trail... Thirty to zero on my forearm and shoulder breaking a tree. I want to thank Zach Bingham for having my head covered. My Bern helmet definitely saved me yesterday. I think i will go chug some milk now. This being my first full suspension ever i am on cloud nine going down hill. AMAZING ride! If you are in the Glenwood area come by The Gear Exchange to check out the large line of demos including the sycth, wildcard, pyre and rune.

Day two
Out here in Virgin for the day two of practice at the Red Bull Rampage. Been following around and assisting Ian Hylands, and from time to time snapping my own shots. Here Darren Berrecloth tests the wind.

Mountain Flyer ACTION!
So i have been doing photo work for Mountain Flyer Magazine for most of the summer now. What is Mountain Flyer Magazine you may ask? Well it is a Colorado based publication that showcases the riders, races, events and culture of rocky mountain cycling. SO with that said, if you ride a bike and live in colorado (even if you don't live in CO) you should probably be checking out this magazine. It is printed in beautiful Crested Butte CO so you know the roots are stong. The past few issues have been awesome! the latest cover is SOOO dope i ordered my own subscription. This magazine is definitely worth $20 for 12 issues! check the site, and if you like what you see find the mag. Contact Brian Riepe if you can't find it near you. Thanks!

The NEED to UPgrade ???
I have been wanting to upgrade my current camera from about the time i bought it. don't get me wrong, my canon 5d is a killer. none stop detail stuffed images roll through my ccd but so does the dust. New sweet $$$$ cameras have an auto cleaning sensor, cleans itself every time you turn on the camera. So mine would get a good scrubbing 10x as much as i get. But beyond the dust, mostly it is the frames per second. the 5D is an amazing landscape and portrait camera, not so much action. The camera in my dreams? The Canon EOS 1D Mark III. maybe the cost is in the length of the name. ha! NOT! this is the sickest action camera on the market! canon does make one better, but who needs 21 megapixels??? crazy right? So the large price of $4999 for my said desired camera is far out of Devon Balet Photography's budget. SO! I am accepting any donations (karma works!) and offering any and all of my photos for sale. My landscape photos are definitely my strong point, and every home needs a great photograph. Please do contact me if you are interested. Thanks!

Top Secret
Anyone for a ride?
Preride for SSWC was a stompin good time through downtown san fransico. there was a huge concert going on in Golden Gate Park so I kicked it and listened to Radiohead for a sec just long enough to loose everyone. But my downhill riding skills brought me right to the Golden Gate Bridge. If you haven't ridden your bike across the bridge you should, just so you can say you have. Its that good.
